Customer Reviews

I bought this book so that I (grandmother) and my 84 year old mother (great grandmother) could record a story for our granddaughter/great granddaughter. I had hopes it would become a recording and a book that our little girl could treasure in future years. Instead of bringing us the joy and opportunity to share that we had hoped for, trying to make this book do what it is supposed to do was a disaster.
To start with, it is not easy to unscrew the battery compartment cover so we could flip the switch to record. The screw was in there very tight, and I thought I wasI was going to strip it trying to get it to loosen up. We finally got it open and set the switch to record.
Then on each page, as directed, we chirped in our best grandmother and great grandmother voices the words on the page, adding a few endearments of our own.
When we then replayed the book by starting at the beginning and flipping to each page, the recording that played did not match picture on the page. Sometimes the same recording would play for three sequential pages. We tried locking and unlocking the switch, and re-recording pages. Nothing would result in the right recording playing with the right page.
This resulted in our experiencing much sadness and frustration, and regret that we are not going to be able to give our little girl a personalized gift we hoped would have much meaning for her.
In our experience this book only brought us sadness, grief and frustration. It was not able to function as advertised and was a waste of time and money.

This book is pretty cute, although I bought it to record my voice for my son (I'm mom) - and the pictures are all about Elmo's dad missing him. Not that big of a deal because my son is 16 months old now - but it will be weird when he gets older. And recording my voice was a bit of a challenge - the book was extremely touchy - I had to hold it a certain way to get it to record me. Other than that - the pictures are great and my son loves hearing my voice!
